Quality of Care Improvement in MBC Patients Investigators Meeting

08.11.2023 - 08.11.2023Lisbon, PT

Background

In 2020/2021 Sharing Progress in Cancer Care (SPCC) and Pfizer Global Medical Grants (Pfizer) collaborated on the “Improving Care of Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Patients in Europe – 2020/2021 RFP” Project.

The purpose of the initiative – sponsored by Pfizer in partnership with SPCC - was to encourage institutes to submit proposals describing concepts and ideas to improve the quality of care of metastatic breast cancer patients in health systems, cancer care centres or networks.  The RFP sought to provide funding to projects that, ultimately, were aimed at helping health care providers deliver the best treatment to each patient at the optimal time.

The RFP was open to investigators from European institutions and networks (both members and non-members of OECI) and the operational project execution stage played out over two years.

After months of evaluation and study of submitted proposals, the seven winning projects were selected and awarded a grant.

More information about this project is available here.

Given the crucial importance of the projects, a one-day event will be organised in Lisbon on 8 November 2023 to bring together representatives of the seven winning institutes.

Aim of the Meeting

Representatives appointed by the winning institutes will present to colleagues, Expert Panel Reviewers, Pfizer and SPCC Management a summary of their work, focusing on the most important highlights and giving updates on the latest developments of their projects.

The event will be held behind closed doors and the outcome will later be made public via the SPCC website.
